About Andy

Family Christmas 2014
I was born and raised by Christian parents in the small west Tennessee town of Martin.  I’m a 2005 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.A. in Communications and a 2007 graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching.

I preached my first sermon at the age of 12 and started preaching regularly at the age of 17 for the Christian Chapel Church of Christ (Kenton, TN).  Since graduating from MSOP I’ve preached for the Pleasant View Church of Christ (Pleasant View, TN) and since 2010 I’ve preached for the Phillips Street Church of Christ (Dyersburg, TN).  Along with preaching at Phillips Street I am involved in preparing video teaching materials for our website (www.phillipsstreetcoc.com) and I direct our annual lectureship each spring.

In addition to my work at Phillips Street I love working with and around our area young people.  I organize our area-wide Summer Youth Series and direct a week at Reelfoot Youth Camp (both since 2012).

While at UTM I met Kristy and we married in 2005.  Kristy has a degree is Elementary Education and is a licensed school teacher.  But right now she stays busy at home caring for our daughters Kenadie (born in 2010) and Charlee (born in 2014).

In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, writing, and University of Tennessee football.

  1. Hello Andy:
My name is David Decker. I am the Director of the Georgia School of Preaching & Biblical Studies. My wife, Debbie, and all her family are from Union City, TN. My widowed father-in-law and one of his sons are members at Martin. I held a gospel meeting there last October. Lastly, I am old, old friends with Jeff Golson and his family. Just wanted to say how much I have appreciated your series on the “Holy Home.” Your blog also looks to be excellent. Thank you for your faithful labor for Our Lord. May God bless you and your sweet family.
    Your Brother,
    David
