A Prayerful Protest

What if every time I disagreed with someone I prayed about it?

What if every time someone said something bad about me I prayed about it?

What if every time my boss mistreated me I prayed about it?

What if every time a political decision was made that I didn’t like I prayed about it?

What if every time a friend betrayed me I prayed about it?

What if every time my children disappointed me I prayed about it?

What if every time I felt like I was being discriminated against or oppressed I prayed about it?

What if every time an injustice occurred in the world I prayed about it?

What if every time my feelings got hurt I prayed about it?

What if every time my plan failed I prayed about it?

What if every time my husband or wife disrespected me I prayed about it?

What if every time I missed out on an experience I really wanted to have I prayed about it?

What if every time I felt discouraged I prayed about it?

What if every time I didn’t get the degree of service I felt I deserved I prayed about it?

What if every time society let me down I prayed about it?

What if every time someone cheated and won I prayed about it?

What if every time someone swindled me out of some money I prayed about it?

What if every time Christianity was insulted I prayed about it?

What if…I just prayed?

There’s a lot that’s wrong with our world. There’s a lot that’s wrong with the way we treat each other. There’s a lot wrong with the way we make decisions. There’s a lot wrong with the decisions that we make. There’s a lot wrong with the way we speak to each other. There’s a lot wrong with the way people view Christianity.

There’s a lot we can do. There’s a lot we should do. But what if…before I do anything, before I say anything…I pray? Do you think it would make a difference in the way we respond or in the way the world would react?

“In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).
